How to care for English Roses?
To properly care for English Roses, it is essential to plant them in a sunny location, where they can receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
Furthermore, the soil must be well-drained and rich in organic matter. For this reason, we recommend adding compost or well-rotted manure. Watering should be regular, while avoiding waterlogging.
When do English Roses bloom?
English Roses bloom from spring to early summer, with a second wave of flowering that may occur in autumn. The flowering period varies slightly depending on the specific variety, but generally begins between May and June, with flowers that can last for several weeks.
If the plant is well cared for and climatic conditions are favorable, some varieties may continue producing flowers until October or even November, particularly if they are pruned correctly and encouraged with appropriate fertilization.
When to prune English Roses?
Pruning should be carried out in late winter, removing dead or weak branches to encourage growth and reducing the shrub to approximately half its height. To protect the rose from diseases, you can apply copper- and sulfur-based treatments, diluted in water and sprayed onto the foliage, especially during the spring months. Mulch can be placed around the base to retain soil moisture, particularly during very hot periods, but the soil should be aerated in autumn.
