Hydrangeas are plants with a classic, ornamental habit and large inflorescences. They offer prolonged summer blooms and vibrant colors. They require soil for acid-loving plants.

When do hydrangeas bloom?
The blooming period for hydrangeas is from May to September. The blooming time varies depending on the type. For example, hydrangeas with paniculate inflorescences tend to bloom later than varieties with globose inflorescences like Hydrangea macrophylla.
The blooming period can also be influenced by care. If pruning, watering, location, and irrigation are carried out correctly, the flowers will be particularly lush and long-lasting.
When can hydrangeas be planted?
To grow lush and produce beautiful flowers, hydrangeas need only a few precautions. When preparing to cultivate one or more hydrangea varieties, the fundamental aspects to consider are:
- soil: hydrangeas require acidic soil, specifically soil for acid-loving plants. It is important that the soil is well-worked and enriched with nutrients;
- exposure: they prefer shade and partial shade;
- watering: it should be regular, especially during summer and spring. Additionally, hydrangeas should be watered with plenty of water to reach the deeper roots. It is important never to wet the foliage from above;
- maintenance: to ensure the best conditions for their development, it is also advisable to keep the base of the plants free of weeds and ensure good, consistent soil moisture. Removing fallen leaves during the winter ensures good root oxygenation.
The perfect time to plant hydrangeas is in autumn, to give the plants enough time to root and gradually adapt to the conditions. After purchase, we recommend transplanting hydrangeas into the ground or a larger pot. In the latter case, every two or three years (depending on the plant's age and size) you will likely need to transfer the plant to an even larger pot.
