What month do you plant Hibiscus?
Hibiscus prefers full sun exposure. The ideal time to plant this plant can be either autumn (as long as there is no risk of frost) or spring.
Furthermore, the ideal environment to prevent diseases is an area with good air circulation, which tends to promote the production of flowers with stronger stems.
How do you care for the Hibiscus plant?
To bloom profusely, hibiscus needs a fertilizer high in potassium, low in phosphorus, and a moderate amount of nitrogen.
Our advice is to not use any fertilizer after July, as it could generate new growth that risks being damaged with the arrival of the first frost.
How to prune potted Hibiscus?
Usually, Hibiscus Syriacus requires little pruning, which only serves to maintain its shape, size, and appearance. For pruning, simply cut the stems in early spring, before new summer growth.
Hibiscus Moscheutos is an herbaceous perennial, meaning that during winter its vegetation degrades and completely disappears, only to reform new branches that sprout from the ground in late spring and will bear flowers in summer. In this case, pruning only consists of removing the aerial part when it has turned yellow in winter.
Avoid pruning hibiscus during its flowering period. The risk is that it could compromise the production of new buds.
